Village Focus International is delighted to unite once again with our event partner – Terre des Hommes – Netherlands, a world leader in the fight against child exploitation. Village Focus International and Terre des Hommes – Netherlands are joining hands to ‘Bike4Kids!’ in order to provide a better life for exploited children in Cambodia.
Angkor Wat Bike4Kids! is an annual cycling event organized in conjunction with the National Olympic Committee of Cambodia. The bike race encourages people of all ages and fitness levels to cycle along the magnificent roads of the Angkor Wat Temple Complex whilst raising money for vulnerable children in Cambodia.
The first cycling race started back in 2006, where the event saw little more than 50 participants. Growing steadily year-by-year, the 2014 event was attended by over 700 people‚ our biggest race yet! The great thing about the event is that it appeals to everyone‚ dedicated cyclists, families and those wanting to have fun with friends & unite for a great cause.
This truly international event attracts people from across the globe & last year participants represented 36 different nationalities. Along with this, the event is also growing in popularity amongst the local community here in Cambodia. National cycling teams, NGO’s, schools & local businesses all travel from many districts throughout Cambodia to take part in this amazing race in Siem Reap.
Since the event began in 2006 an outstanding $200,000 has been raised to help support young people and communities break out of poverty. Over this time VFI has worked to help numerous organisations on projects that make fundamental changes in Cambodia’s society. Without our dedicated participants and champion fundraisers none of this would be possible.
Join us in 2015 for this exhilarating sunrise cycling event and experience the most unique way of discovering Siem Reaps and it’s magnificent temples.
